- The League will begin on Wednesday May 1st, 2019 and end on August 28th, 2019.
- There will be 2 divisions: Early League and Late League. 2019 will mark the 1st time in several years that the League is doing normal Tee-Times. Early League will have tee times starting at 3:36, with the last one at 4:24. Late League will have tee times starting at 4:32, with the last one at 5:20. Everyone will start from Hole #1.
- Handicaps will be based on 9-hole league play computed each week. The Average score less Par will be used for the handicap (80% of the Average is used). Weekly adjustments will be made.
When the calculated Handicap is negative (meaning under Par by at least 1 stroke), a Plus Handicap will be assigned. In previous years Plus Handicaps had not been allowed, and so this is a minor change to the Handicap assignments.
- Players of age 60 or older have the option to play from the White Tees. This must be decided on Week #1 and may not be reversed during the season. Players choosing this option will not be able to carry over last years handicap and will be treated as a new player to establish handicap from white tees. (as a note, this rule started in 2017)
- Entry will be $250 per individual or $500 per team. Substitutes will need to make arrangements for payments with their partners, not the League. Substitutes will NOT be allowed during the playoffs except as provided in rule #10.
Team payment is due on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Bogies, 5-6pm. Lack of payment on this date will cause a forfeit of your team's spot in the 2019 league. Your spot will be given to an alternate team.
- Matches are scored through the match play system. There will also be an added incentive for every golfer to do his best on every hole by giving prize money each week for individual high points to those golfers who have not already won weekly prize money. There will be 3 places paid as indicated on the payout sheet.
- The point system used will be the COMBINED point totals of the 2 team-members. For each member of the team: determine the NET score on the hole, and then use the NET score to determine the Stableford points. Add up the Stableford points for each team-member, and use that total to compare to the other team's total, and determine who won the hole.
Modified Stableford Points System Net triple or worse -3 points Net double-bogey -2 Net bogey -1 Net par +1 Net birdie +2 Net eagle +3 Net double-eagle +4 Hole-In-One +5
- Tie breakers in weekly matches will first be determined by the team's total points: if still tied, then the tie breaker will be a scorecard playoff from the tie breaker hole (pre-determined holes will be in accordance with that weeks play: for instance week #1, the tie-breaker will be hole #1.... and week #10 tie-breaker hole would be hole #1). In the event of a tie in the Playoffs after 9 holes, the match will proceed to the 1st tee and sudden death will apply and continue until a winner is declared.
An important clarification on the tie-breaker hole having to do with missing a week due to bad weather or holiday: If a week gets missed, for whatever reason, the tie-breaker hole transitions to the next week.
So for example if week #3 gets rained out then the tie breaker hole for week #4 will be hole #4 (not hole #3).
- If all matches are NOT completed due to inclement weather, all matches for that week will be a wash. Weekly prize money will be doubled for the next week. Cancelled nights will be made up in lieu of the next scheduled position round.
- You may use a substitute for any regular season match. NO substitutes will be allowed for the teams that make the playoffs, unless a regular has moved away or he is on his deathbed.
If a team has two substitutes during a match the substitutes may still earn points toward the original teams total but will be given a loss for that week.
- At the finish of the regular season we will have 4 playoff weeks which will consist of the top 8 teams from each division. Playoff money will pay all 8 teams that make it to the second round.
(new 2019)
First round playoff losers will be eligible to play for the last 3 weeks Non-Playoff weekly money. All teams playing for Non-Playoff weekly Money must have at least one original player per team. 2 Substitutes per team are disqualified.
- If there is a tie for a playoff position after the regular season, the tie breakers will be:
1. Total points accumulated during the entire regular season 2. Head-to-head record between the teams during the regular season 3. Sudden-death playoff starting on hole #1 - Rules:
1. USGA match-play rules govern all play 2. 2-man teams, total of both balls on each hole 3. Rulings will be made by Royal Burrows and Gary Schroeder 4. Pin may stay in hole. Players choice. 5. Allow 3 minutes in looking for lost ball 6. Lost ball or OB: Agree as to how far up the fairway where ball was lost/went out. Drop there, Add 2 strokes. 7. When addressing ball on green, if the ball inadvertently moves, replace ball to where it was. No penalty - For computing a Beginning-of-the-Year Handicap, the following rule will be used:
- IF: valid League handicap from 2014..2018, use it
- ELSE: Use the Traditional 1st score Handicap Computation
Handicaps will be computed weekly using all scores for the year. The player will receive 80% of his average strokes over par. The maximum number of shots given this year will be 11 on a 14 handicap, with double shots given on handicap holes 1 and 3 (Holes #8 and #3)
- handicapping:
HCP 80% HCP 80% 1 - 1 8 - 6 2 - 2 9 - 7 3 - 2 10 - 8 4 - 3 11 - 9 5 - 4 12 - 10 6 - 5 13 - 10 7 - 6 14 - 11 - Both players must hole out on every hole or the team will receive (-6) points for that hole and lose that particular hole in their match. The scorecard must be signed by at least one player from each team. Failure to abide by all of the league rules will result in disqualification for the team for that week, and they will receive 0 points for their team score.
- Handicap rules are as follows:
- Handicaps will be figured weekly.
- Up until the end of a match the worst score anyone can take for handicap purposes is a double-bogey (all players must record their actual score).
- After the match is over the worst score that can be taken for handicap purposes will be a net-bogey (all players must record their actual score).
- To speed up play: If a player is going to make a net triple-bogey please pick up so that we all can finish in the day light.
- Handicapping of holes are as follows:
Hole Handicap 1 9 2 5 3 3 4 11 5 17 6 15 7 7 8 1 9 13
Skins
Every week there will be a skins pot. Players will no longer pay at the Pro shop before they tee off. Instead, Skins must be pre-paid for the year. This year, skins will be both Gross and Net. A teammate cannot tie a skin either (this is to encourage everyone to score as best as possible on every hole). A hole-in-one or a double eagle will be given all the skin money for that week. In the event of both a hole and one and a double eagle, the weekly skin money will be split between both players. If a player has paid in advance for his entry into the skins game and must use a substitute for a week that he is not able to participate, the substitute will be entered into the skins game and will be eligible to win skin money for the week without paying an additional entry for the skins game. It is the discretion of that team (not the league) to handle proper payment, as the winning will be paid to the winning team not the substitute.
Skins Payout 2019: $150 gross/$150 net
